As Zhang Ruyi's largest institutional solo exhibition in recent years, this exhibition will feature a series of works commissioned by UCCA, further synthesising and refining the tension-filled dichotomous network of natural and human-made objects that feature in her work. This exhibition is curated by UCCA Assistant Curator Neil Zhang.In 2005, Zhang Ruyi, then a sophomore majoring in printmaking at Shanghai University’s School of Fine Arts drew a series of totemic female figures in bright red pen across the pink grids lines of standard graphing paper 1 and employed an accordion-fold 2 technique to create an artist’s book.
